God Save The Queen: Meet the British Treasury Department's furry new employee

The British government recently expanded their Treasury Department staff to include a surprisingly petite and furry chap by the name of Gladstone.
Gladstone is an eager young gentleman of just over 18 months of age who is ready to serve Her Majesty the Queen. He is a lad of discerning taste and style and can often be seen sporting his signature red polka-dot bow tie. Did I mention he's a little black cat? Yes, the newest recruit to Her Majesty's Treasury is none other than a domestic short-haired cat.

Gladstone was adopted on July 29th of this year from Battersea Dogs and Cats home to serve as the Treasury's chief mouser. He resides at the Whitehall offices of the Treasury Department and is in charge of day-to-day mouse removal operations and infestation prevention. This dapper fellow enjoys patrolling the corridors of the Treasury offices and greeting employees and visitors with his signature style and feline charm.
According to unnamed Treasury officials, Gladstone is already showing his prowess as a “cold-blooded killer,” having dispatched six mice in his short time there. He is all about business.
Okay, well not all about business.

When not actively engaged in the hunt, Gladstone can be found padding around the building collecting well-deserved pets and snuggles – and catching up on his fan mail.
A recent video was published showing what it would look like if Gladstone was fitted with a camera, as part of the Treasury's Open House London promotion. The video offers the public a mock sneak peek into the life and (imagined) purrspective of this very cool cat.
Employees at the Treasury can keep tabs on Gladstone's movements throughout the day on a GPS tracking app connected to his collar, but if you'd like to follow this fiendishly handsome feline, you can follow him @treasury_cat on Instagram.
