Mei and Mu sound like, well, sounds. Maybe something one kitten would say to another. But the kitties these names belong to were so small when they came home to their new family that their meis and mus were just tiny squeaks.
But that didn't dissuade Ito and Ban — two gorgeous tabbies — from deciding that these two new kittens were part of the family. In fact, they took them under their wing so fast that the kind-hearted people who took them in from a animal health center in Japan knew in short order that those kittens were here to stay. The photos are amazing and the story behind it all is so sweet.

At first, the baby cats were so minute that a remote control was bigger than they were.
When they cuddled up together, they didn't even weigh a whole pound. Taken from their mother too early, they were lucky to find a home with someone who would give them the TLC baby kittens need.
That care would come from the two resident tabbies, Ito and Ban. They snuggled up together quite happily, as their smiles attest.
Cuddle puddles happened all the time, making every cat in the household purr up a storm. And as the kittens grew, they were still treated like the babies they were.
Sprawling out together became a favorite pastime, and it certainly made for some unusual pictures!
Hugs became frequent and the kitty caresses took on the importance of life itself. The tabbies always had one "arm" around a kitten.

Once the kittens had grown enough to be passed on to a new home, there was no way the tabbies were letting them go — fast friends furever. This is a household that understands the needs of cats and the rewards of sharing one's life with them.
