Couple leaves shelter with two cats because these two refused to be separated

Kylie Minogue once said, "You need a lot of luck to find people with whom you want to spend the rest of your life. Some people manage to find their soul mate. Others don't. I think love is like a lottery." Well, if that's true, then these two cats have won the jackpot! And Lady Luck was surely smiling down on them when James and his girlfriend walked into the STAR Rescue in Gainesville, FL.
But this story didn't start out with two cats who had been together forever and were placed at the rescue with each other. Indeed, they had never even seen each other before they met at STAR. And that's when an amazing love story wrote its opening lines.

"Luna is a brown and orange Maine Coon and Louie is an orange tabby," James (@JamesC0nquer), the human dad, said. They were clinging to each other as though desperate not to be separated.
That shouldn't have affected James and his girlfriend, though, because they were at the shelter to adopt a dog. Then they saw these two soul mates.
They quickly discussed all the reasons why getting a dog wasn't such a good idea after all. They both worked and weren't home a lot. Their apartment would be so confining to a dog, right? Maybe they needed a cat. Besides, James had had cats before, so he knew what it took to take care of them.
James recollects, ""My girlfriend saw Luna and fell in love. We went back two weeks later and she was still there." They decided they wanted to adopt Luna, but she and Louie couldn't be torn apart. So they resolved to foster Louie until a new home could be found for him.
But remember Lady Luck? She had her own plans for the two inseparable friends and everyone knows you can't beat Lady Luck. The two humans quickly realized that Luna came with Louie or not at all.
Two weeks later, Louie officially became a permanent part of the family. "We couldn't let go of Louie after seeing how 'at home' they both were together." Now he and his lady need never be apart again, and James and his lady enjoy twice as much love. They say that a dog is man's best friend, but Doug Larson (the cartoonist) disagrees. "The cat could very well be man's best friend (but would never stoop to admitting it)."

Are you basically a dog person or a cat person? Maybe a bit of both? Share this story with your own soul mate, and remember that Lady Luck may just guide your steps the next time you want a new (another?) pet. Two are better than one. They just are. And Luna and Louie's story tale ending says...And they lived happily ever after!
