Meet Nika. She is a special cat with nine lives. A young man named Slava was driving down the road on a snowy day in January 2017 when he saw a cat huddled beside the road. The cat was so cold that it was crouched in place, slowly freezing to death.
Other cars just drove by, perhaps not seeing the frost-covered ball of fur, but Slava decided to stop and help the cat. At first, the cat was too afraid of him and tried to run away from his car into a tree. So, Slava parked on the other side and walked up to the cat, which turned out to be a very frozen little girl cat, too cold and weary to run far.

The temperature was minus 1 degree Fahrenheit (minus 18 degrees Celsius).
After he wrapped her in a towel, Slava took her home to his house where he and his father warmed her up.
At the vet's, they discovered that she was only six months old and that her tail was frostbitten. It had to be amputated.
They named her Nika.
Despite her initial fear, Nika turned out to be a sweet-natured and patient kitten. She put up with all of the vet treatment, including a cone of shame, like a trooper. She has now grown into a playful, loving cat. She's a very lucky girl!
